Proverbs 16:18 warns us, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” This verse serves as a sobering reminder that pride is a dangerous trap, leading us away from wisdom and toward ruin.

Pride blinds us to our own weaknesses. It makes us rely on our own strength rather than on God, leading us to believe we are self-sufficient. When we elevate ourselves above others or refuse to acknowledge our dependence on God, we set ourselves up for failure. Scripture consistently teaches that humility is the path to wisdom, while pride leads to downfall.

Humility doesn’t mean thinking less of ourselves; it means recognizing our need for God and honoring Him above all else. A humble heart is teachable, open to correction, and willing to serve others. It allows us to grow in wisdom and avoid the destruction that pride brings.

Today, let’s take a moment to examine our hearts. Are there areas where pride has taken root? Are we relying too much on our own abilities rather than seeking God’s guidance? Let’s humble ourselves before the Lord, asking Him to help us walk in humility, knowing that true strength comes from trusting in Him.
