Seeking True Wisdom

By Dan Nelson, January 29, 2025

Proverbs 4:7 reminds us, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” This verse underscores the vital role that wisdom plays in our lives. Every day, we face choices—big and small—that shape our future. Whether in our careers, relationships, or personal growth, wisdom serves as our guide, helping us make decisions that align with God’s truth.

But where do we find true wisdom? The world offers countless sources—education, experience, and even personal intuition—but none compare to the wisdom found in God’s Word. Scripture teaches us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10), meaning that real understanding starts with reverence for God and a desire to follow His ways.

Gaining wisdom requires effort and intentionality. It’s not simply about accumulating knowledge but about applying God’s truth to our everyday lives. By spending time in Scripture, praying for discernment, and seeking godly counsel, we grow in wisdom and learn to make choices that reflect God’s will.

Prioritizing wisdom in our lives means allowing it to shape not only our decisions but also our character. When we rely on God’s guidance, we experience greater peace and clarity, knowing that He directs our steps. As we go about our day, let’s seek wisdom wholeheartedly, trusting that God will equip us to navigate every challenge with understanding and grace.
